Low Voltage FAQ's
What is low voltage wiring?
Low voltage refers to electrical systems operating at 50 volts or less — including data cabling, security system wiring, AV cables, and intercom systems. This is distinct from line voltage (120V/240V) mains electrical work, which requires a licensed electrician.
Do i need a permit for low voltage work?
In most cases, low voltage cabling in commercial buildings does not require an electrical permit in BC. However, requirements can vary by municipality and project scope — we’ll advise on a case-by-case basis.
Can you coordinate the line voltage work too?
Yes. If your project requires line voltage electrical work alongside our low voltage scope (for example, adding dedicated circuits for new equipment), we can coordinate with a licensed electrician as part of the project so you have a single point of contact.
How do you keep installs looking clean?
We plan every cable route before pulling wire — using existing voids, ceiling cavities, conduit, and cable management systems. Every run is labelled at both ends and documented. We don’t just staple cable to walls.
Can you work on occupied buildings?
Yes. We’re experienced in working in live commercial environments and schedule work to minimise disruption to your operations — including evenings and weekends when required.
